ALEX Lynn left Belgium content with a sixth-placed finish in the opening round of the FIA World Endurance Championship.

The 24-year-old, from Grove, delivered a solid display on his debut for Aston Martin Racing, partnering Maxime Martin and Jonny Adam at the 6 Hours of Spa.

Lynn, who also competes in the FIA Formula E Championship, helped the team qualify eighth.

And he now heads to the next round, the prestigious 24 Hours of Le Mans on June 16-17.

Lynn said: “I was really happy that my first weekend with Aston Martin went smoothly.

“It’s great to represent the team and the brand, and on your first event with any factory team you want to make sure your race is clean.

“I had really strong lap times, it was positive and now we need to build on it, especially with Le Mans coming up next month – we hope that it will be a much closer race.”

In the meantime, Lynn competes in the Nurburgring 24 Hours, which is not part of the championship, for Aston Martin.

He will race in the GT4 class alongside Adam and Jamie Chadwick.

Lynn said: “I’m really excited. I’m certainly going to have to be on top of my game.”
