Drayton A were knocked off the top of the Didcot & District League Division 1 table, when they suffered a shock 6-4 defeat at the hands of struggling RAL B, writes Dan Church. Anders Markyardsen’s ex-plosive maximum took the league leaders by surprise ending their 100 per cent record. Doubles from Drayton’s Matthew Davies and Robert Hudson were not enough to match Markyardsen’s stunning individual display. The new leaders are Abingdon A, who edged a point clear by defeating Moreton B 7-3 Braces from trio Chris Smith, Stuart Pringle and Paul Garner inflicted the heavy damage for the hosts, with Niall Harris’s brace failing to keep the visitors within touching distance. Drayton D and Drayton B are the top two in Division 2 after the D team rallied to a         5-5 draw at home to RAL D. Kavan Warrender’s maximum for the hosts was cancelled out by doubles from RAL’s Ron and Kevin Liquorish. The stalemate moves Drayton D up to second on points. Moreton D marched to their fifth consecutive win to ex-tend their lead in Division Three to seven points by  beating Abingdon C 8-2. Hiten Pitel and Daniel Artene both hit trebles for the visitors, with Roger Temple-man (2) also in fine form. Marcham remain top of the league in Division 5 after recording two victories in a week. First, the frontrunners ed-ged past Drayton G 6-4 despite Lewis Waddup’s brave maximum for the losing side, with Harry O’Higgins and Robin Butt’s braces deemed enough to snatch victory. O’Higgins then hit top gear with a treble to down Hanney 7-3 and hand the league leaders a six-point lead. Namesake teammate Robert O’Higgins won twice to seal a fourth win in five for Marcham.
