FOUR Oxfordshire athletes produced national top-ten performances in the Barrie Strange Memorial Throws meeting at Horspath.

Radley’s Kathryn Woodcock climbed to seventh in the UK under 17 girls’ discus rankings with a throw of 39.44m.

Clubmate Tom Anstice is now the eighth-ranked under 17 boy for the javelin with an effort of 53.74.

Oxford City’s Robbie Crowther went up to ninth in the under 15 boys’ javelin standings thanks to a 45.94m throw.

Completing the quarter was City’s Tomasz Napiorkowski, whose 43.91m discus kept him tenth in the under 20 men’s standings.

  • OXFORD City athletes won three of the four titles available in the Sandra Luke Memorial Ten Step competition at Horspath.

Lily Peach and Annie Sutcliffe were the under 8 and 9 girls’ champions respectively, with Oscar Summer taking the under 8 boys’ award.

Jake Minshull (Coventry Godiva) was the under boys’ winner and also claimed the Barrie Strange Trophy for the best ten step athlete.

The competition featured 50m, 800m, long jump, vortex throw and object pick-up.

Meanwhile, Alice Byles was the only home winner in the Sandra Luke Memorial Five Star competition, on the same day.

Athletes aged ten to 15 choose one track event, one field event and one other to amass as many points as possible.

Oxford City’s Byles was the under 15 girls’ winner after a long jump of 4.81m, plus strong efforts in the 75m hurdles (11.86secs) and 200m (27.30).

Banbury Harriers’ Michael Dawes was second under 15 boy, with Witney Road Runner Matthew Lock third.

Radley’s Kai Snell, Bicester’s Holly Griffiths-Brown and Banbury Harrier Victoria Harte were third at under 10, 12 and 13 girls’ level respectively.
