Michael Appleton is looking to bring in a new face before next week’s Sky Bet League Two game at York City.

Striker Carlton Morris returned to Norwich a fortnight ago, and this week Alex Jakubiak was recalled to parent club Watford.

It means Oxford United are now short of forwards, with Tyrone Barnett, Danny Hylton and youngster James Roberts the only recognised front men in the squad.

Hylton is suspended for tomorrow’s FA Cup trip to Grimsby.

When asked whether a new face could be in before the trip to York, Appleton replied: “I certainly hope so.

“We are in a position now that certain players are coming to the fore and might be available.

“I feel there are still some roles that no-one has said with their performances ‘I am No 1 in that position’.

“Not enough players have done that for me yet.

“We have just got to make sure that the players we bring in know what we are about and can deliver what is expected of them.”

One person who United are looking at now is Albert Kuqi, the brother of former Sheffield Wednesday and Ipswich Town striker Shefti.

The 22-year-old forward, who trained with the U’s yesterday, last played for Finnish side Klubi 04, scoring on his debut against FC Espoo.

“Albert Kuqi is coming in for a few days,” Appleton said.

“He’s a younger brother of Shefti so we just said we’d have a little look at him.”
