DANNY Rose feels that a central midfield role suits his game the best, but will happily play wherever he is asked to.

The 26-year-old had been playing in a wide position for Oxford United in recent games, but was moved into the middle of the pitch for last week’s FA Cup clash at Grimsby.

Rose scored the third goal and had a big impact on proceedings at Blundell Park.

He thinks that role suits him best, but has no problem in different roles if it works to the advantage of the team.

Latest United news:

“It’s certainly my most natural position,” he said.

“I feel I can maybe influence the game a bit more there.

“When I have played on the right in that wide role, I’m not an out-and-out winger so people don’t expect me to get at the full back like Callum (O’Dowda), Alfie (Potter) and Junior (Brown) will do.

“But I’m doing a job for the team there and trying to be as creative as possible.”

Rose was impressed with United’s display, but knows it will count for nothing if they don’t follow it up at York City tomorrow.

“Back-to-back wins is the key to going on a run,” he said.

“The league is very tight and any side that can string together five or six wins on the bounce are going to go quickly up the table, and that’s what we need to do.

“On the back of two defeats it was important for us to get back to winning ways.

“We spoke about losing three on the bounce and that is not something we could let happen.”
