Oxford United have set a new record figure for season ticket sales at the Kassam Stadium.

This afternoon the total passed the previous best mark of 4,345 - set in the 2011/12 campaign.

With more than four weeks left until the season starts it is already well over the 4,000 target United, who increased prices following promotion to League One, had set a target for this summer.

Almost 800 - or one in five - of the sales have gone to under 13s with the #OX4Life package.

Greig Box Turnbull, United's managing director, said: “The buzz and spirit around the club is palpable and everyone is looking forward to the new season with great optimism.

“It’s fantastic news to have broken the season ticket sales record for the stadium, it just goes to show how far the club has come under the stewardship of Darryl and Michael.

"It’s great to see so many United fans embracing the new era of the club and I’ve no doubt they will back the team brilliantly again this season.

“The ticket office staff have done a brilliant job and it would be wonderful to kick on for the fans to really set the record even higher.”
