SUMRITH Thanakarnjanasuth welcomed the chance to answer questions from Oxford United supporters at a forum before the Scunthorpe United game.

The Thai businessman, known as Tiger, spent an hour alongside head coach Karl Robinson, managing director Niall McWilliams and former chairman Darryl Eales with more than 100 fans.

It was a first chance to interact directly with the new owner since his takeover in February.

Tiger was well aware the long wait to appoint Robinson had been a source of frustration.

But he felt the event had provided him with a chance to give an idea of the future.

He said: “I think it was very good, because the supporters want to know what’s going on and what we’re planning.

“I think a lot of supporters lose their patience with how I took so long to get a manager.

“But I needed to drag him out of another club, so that was why.”

During the forum, Tiger also revealed there were plans for a first meeting with Firoz Kassam, owner of United’s stadium.

He said: “I’m going to meet with Mr Kassam very soon.

“We are arranging a date to meet. I know the stadium is important to the club.”

Robinson said: “It was brilliant.

“I thought it was good for Tiger as well, it showed he’s got a goal and a way of trying to move forward.

“It was nice for Darryl to be there as well and have people praising him for the work he’s done.

“Let’s not forget where we’ve been and we’re constantly looking forward.

“There’s a lot of work to do here and we’ll stick together.”
