OXFORD United's dress rehearsal for the Sky Bet League One campaign will come with a friendly at Milton Keynes Dons.

Karl Robinson will return to his former side on Friday, July 27 – eight days before the opening game of the season.

It is the sixth fixture confirmed by the U's, with room still in the programme for more matches.

Robinson believes the meeting with the Dons, who were relegated from League One last month, will provide the ideal workout for United.

He said: "I always like the game before the season starts to be the best League Two team you can play. I think we’ve got that nailed on.

"They will be the best team in League Two next year and the fans can get there because it’s only down the road.

"It’s a Friday night, which is always a great spectacle for any football fan.

"They will want to prove a point that they will be coming back (to League One).

"We will be playing a very aggressive team who will be very motivated to be successful.

"Their mentality in pre-season will be to get promoted."
