JOSH Ashby has agreed a one-year contract at Oxford City following his release by Oxford United.
The Vanarama National League South side moved quickly to make contact when the midfielder from Oxford departed the U's last month.
Ashby made seven senior appearances for United, with the most recent a substitute appearance in the Checkatrade Trophy against Brighton & Hove Albion Under 21s last October.
The 22-year-old midfielder has had several loan spells away from the Kassam Stadium, including a stay with City two seasons ago.
Boss Mark Jones told the club's website: "We’re very pleased to get him, he’s a good, young, hungry player who wants to progress and wants to do well, and we want to give Josh that opportunity to go and show his ability next season.
"We’ve been working on his signing for a while.
"We worked with him a couple of seasons ago when he was on loan from Oxford United where we thought a lot of him.
"He’s a very good passer of the ball and is technically very good. I think he fits in perfectly for what we want to do as a team."
Meanwhile, another former U's youth team graduate has agreed a summer move.
Defender Miles Welch-Hayes, who was at Bath City last season, is on board with Vanarama National League champions Macclesfield Town.
