KARL Robinson was unfazed about picking up his first booking since retiring as a player on Tuesday night.

The Oxford United boss was furious a chance for Coventry City was not flagged offside when the Carabao Cup first round tie was goalless.

Referee James Linington reacted by showing a yellow card to Robinson, whose side went on to win 2-0, with the Sky Blues having two goals ruled out for offside in the second half.

It is part of new rules for officials this season, with a one-match suspension triggered for four cautions.

Robinson was more concerned about censure from his wife than the referee.

He said: “I thought he (the assistant) was poor and I told him.

“I just checked my phone and I had a text from my wife saying ‘what are you doing, you idiot’.

“What I’m furious about is they nearly scored a goal that was offside, but they still get to officiate next week, there’s no consequences.

“The referee had a good game, but he needs to be helped by his assistants.

“I care, so if you want to yellow-card me and we win then I’ll take it week-in, week-out.

“If they want to book us and do silly things then they need to get their refereeing right.”

Derek Adams and Chris Powell were the first to receive red cards following a touchline bust-up in Plymouth Argyle’s draw with Southend United last Saturday.
