THERE is one thing Oxford United do not have to worry about tomorrow and that is a hangover from Tuesday night’s celebrations.

After the jubilation of reaching the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy final at Wembley, the U’s switch focus back to the league when they visit Exeter City.

The club have made no secret about promotion from Sky Bet League Two being the main objective, but accept the added boost a trip to Wembley on April 3 brings to the club.

And while the celebrations were in full swing on Tuesday, captain Jake Wright was under no illusions about the importance of putting the JPT on the back-burner.

He said: “The league is obviously the most important thing for us, but we have done really well in the cup.

“Every game we have played we have tried to win and we can put it to the back (of our minds) until April and concentrate on the league.”

Defender Joe Skarz echoed his captain’s thoughts, adding: “We have got a little break before the final now where our full focus is on the league.”

However, what United’s cup exploits have shown Skarz is the side relish playing in front of bumper crowds.

More than 10,000 supporters filled the Kassam Stadium on Tuesday and the full back believes the only way is up for the U’s.

The 26-year-old said: “The atmosphere is electric when it is full.

“It is a stadium destined for a higher level.

“The crowd and the whole set-up is also destined for a higher level.

“To showcase our performance on a stage like Wembley is what everyone has been working for.”
