Oxford United's Constable appeal rejected

James Constable will miss the next four Oxford United games after an appeal against his red card last weekend was rejected by the Football Association.

The striker was dismissed for violent conduct in the 3-0 win at AFC Wimbledon, but the U's felt video evidence proved his innocence.

After reviewing the footage, a disciplinary panel at the FA upheld referee Lee Collins's original decision.

It means the 28-year-old is now suspended for four games, starting with Saturday's FA Cup third round tie against Sheffield United at the Kassam Stadium.

He also misses the Johnstone's Paint Trophy clash with Southend United, plus npower League Two games against Bradford City and Rotherham United.

As usual the FA stick together with the referees in lower divisions, its ok to overturn a high profile premiership game but not one down our end of the league.

Disgracfull, anybody with any sense could see on the tv that there was n contact with the arm. Who do these faceless idiots think they are kidding when they are supposed to be impartial. Toatally agree with BigAIBiker if you are a premiership player they would overturn the decision. Mind you it now leaves us in the proverbial S..t Wider is going to have to get someone in on loan.

What a joke - the thing is a fellow pro has done a fellow pro, the refs made an error and nobody has the decency or balls to admit to it.
My only hope is that this takes my favourite player out of the January Shop Window and may get him fresh and hungry to at least see us into the play offs.
JC it was not your fault - stay committed and stay on a roll. Keep banging them in during training and dont let the bar stewards grind you down, don't get angry get EVEN!

The F.A. disgust me. There is absolutely no doubt that Constable is innocent of this charge (having freeze framed the incident & slowly played it forward frame by frame!) yet the faceless F.A. "judges" can completely ignore the facts if they so choose. They (the F.A.) are actually doing the referrees more harm than good by doing this. By supporting this clearly wrong decision they encourage more supporters to give the referees a hard time for their errors as they know there is absolutely no justice with this dictatorial regime. Hang your heads in shame you faceless cretins! Couldn't the club sue the F.A.? The evidence is so strong I believe this could still be overturned (even though it would be too late to save Beano from missing the games). Also, the Wimbledon player who deliberately got Beano sent off has got a clear message from the F.A. - carry on cheating because it does pay!

Not surprising - the evidence of the one camera was not conclusive. As previously posted, though, I was just a few feet away and there was nothing to suggest a foul, let alone justfy the red card. The weak 'assistant' right in front of us did not flag. If he was involved in the decision (if not, what was he there for?) then I hope he has a few bad dreams about it, along with cheat Antwi. It all stemmed from the little bundle a couple of minutes earlier when Beano challenged Antwi as he let the ball rn for a goal-kick. There were words, and the ref obviously made his mind up then.. He took no time to consider and rushed to judgment from some distance away

the stoke player ;nzonzi had his red card overturned by the fa on video evidence but its painfully obvious that the lower leagues dont get the benefit of the doubt as the video in jcs case was inconclusive to say the least. it makes an already difficult fa cup game even harder ,but we will have to put up with it and give it our best shot.

As stated - camera inconclusive so, as with cricket, stays with the on field umpire.
Martico, I too was a few feet away and the assistant flagged very clearly and said something but I couldn't hear what. Given what had happened between Beano and Antwi a few minutes earlier I said to my daughter "he's gonna walk".
Shame, and whilst I don't want Beano to lose passion, he must control that red mist - he makes it easy for officials sometimes.
Anyway in the words of the almighty CW - we move on.

Lets hope this Josh Parker is NOT the answer, he has played 38 times in the league and has yet to score for any team, not much good for a supposed striker, even Torres was better.

Totally agree with you on that comment , but did show he has something to prove yesterday .Now we have the chance to progress in two cups and move into the top half of the league , quality signings are needed but these dont come cheap .

How can N'Zonzi get his red card overturned and Beano cant have his red card overturned? The FA don't do anything even SAF gets away with shouting at the ref. More reason for me to hate the premiership!!

Thats the sort of moronic comment that is the reason we don't have enough decent officials because idiots like you won't give them a chance. He may or may not have made a mistake - you don't know what Beano was really thinking. If it had been the other way round you'd be applauding the ref.
If I came to your place of work (assuming you work) and was abusive to you I doubt you'd be doing me any favours.

Grow up - support the team - and move on.

The referee made a mistake which is understandable given the level of cheating in the modern game.

The FA however, have seen the evidence with their own eyes but have allowed the cheat to win. This is unforgivable. What chance does football have when it is run by these idiots?

The FA – rightly – back referees as much as possible. But refs make mistakes, and there’s no shame in that: anyone who’s ever refereed knows it’s a rare day that you go through 90 minutes without getting a decision wrong, and you just hope it’s minor. In this instance the referee made an ‘honest’ mistake that was unfortunately major. Since there’s no shame whatever in his having done that, why do the FA feel the need to support him despite pretty glaring evidence? They’re doing themselves, let alone us, no favours.

It’s a blow, but the management and team have shown a lot of resilience in recent weeks, and they’re more than capable of coping with this. Get behind them 100%. Come on you yellows.

The only 'positive' is 2 of the games are cup games. I know this isnt great, but hey, im an OUFC fan....got to look for positives!!

I think we needed to add more firepower before this ban, now it surely become essential?
