CONTINGENCY plans are being made at Oxford United to bring in a goalkeeper on loan if Max Crocombe gets an international call-up.

With Ryan Clarke out injured, the teenager is the senior squad’s only back-up to Wayne Brown, but he could spend most of March in Fiji with New Zealand Under 20s.

Crocombe was named in a provisional 26-man group this week, but only 20 will travel for the Under 20 World Cup qualifiers.

If he makes the cut, United will have to sign an emergency loan, but assistant manager Mickey Lewis does not think it will be a problem.

He said: “It is something you have to keep your eye on, but there’s nothing we can do about it at the moment.

“There will always be plenty of goalkeepers available and we’ll know in plenty of time.”
