SIR – I was contacted by a number of constituents with concerns about gritting – or lack of gritting – in certain areas, which I passed on to Bradford Council to action.
However, as a former leader of the Council, I would like to place on record my gratitude for the enormous amount of work Council staff do on our behalf when the winter weather arrives.
It is often a very thankless task, particularly when the snow and ice are unrelenting, but their commitment and dedication in keeping our main roads clear should be appreciated by us all. I would also like to say how impressed I was to see so many acts of good neighbourliness across the community, particularly in areas where roads and footpaths remained treacherous.
Those individuals who go out of their way to help others when conditions are so bad deserve immense credit and set an example to which we should all seek to aspire.
