Oxford United will assess Dave Kitson’s fitness today amid concerns he may miss tomorrow’s game at Torquay United.

The striker was forced off with a shoulder injury against Bury last weekend and it remains a problem.

He will be examined before United travel to Devon this afternoon.

U’s boss Chris Wilder wants to name an unchanged side for the third successive Sky Bet League Two game, but admitted Kitson’s situation was complicated by bruised ribs picked up in the opening game at Portsmouth.

He said: “There’s a doubt about Dave, but we’re hopeful he can get through today and we’ll be unchanged again.

“He took a smash to his shoulder and that was obviously off the back of the one he took to his ribs the week before.

“He’s not managed to really get over that, so he’s been bashed about so far.

“But Kits is a tough old boy and he wants to play. Hopefully he will do.”

Supporters travelling to Plainmoor tomorrow have a chance to make it an Oxford United double header.

Chris Allen’s youth team are taking on their Torquay counterparts at Cullompton RFC at 11am.
