OXFORD United have been drawn away to Premier League side West Brom in the Capital One Cup later this month.

The second round tie will see a return to the Baggies for U's head coach Michael Appleton and chief executive Mark Ashton, who are both former employees.

It will be United's first visit to the Hawthorns since March 1999.

Appleton's men reached the second round thanks to a 2-1 win at Bristol City last night.

The tie will be played in the week commencing Monday, August 25.

Oxokuba says...

Small earner which helps but I'd swap an early cup exit for a successful league campaign any day. Another young player on loan is a good and not so good thing. Good that they gain some experience in what hopefully will be a successful team not so good that they have to go back half way through season.

I will of course be less pessimistic once we string a few league wins under our belt. Starting on Saturday...

Memories of our first game in the top flight many years ago. In August as well. As oxokuba above says a good league run is more important but after Tuesdays performance that shouldn't be long coming.
