JOHN Lundstram will not change his style this weekend despite the prospect of a suspension looming.

Oxford United’s captain has been booked in the last two Sky Bet League One games, taking his tally for the season to four.

The cut-off for avoiding a one-game ban after a fifth yellow card does not come until November 30, so Lundstram has ten fixtures to negotiate if he is to avoid punishment.

The midfielder, who was only cautioned three times in the whole of last season, is unfazed by the threat and intends to play his normal game against AFC Wimbledon on Sunday.

He said: “I didn’t even realise it was four.

“It happens, but you’ve just got to play your game and not think about it too much.

“I’m sure it will be in the back of my mind a little bit, though.”

Losing Lundstram for a game would be badly timed, with Ryan Ledson ruled out for at least a month by a knee problem.

U’s boss Michael Appleton backed Josh Ruffels to handle the role if required, but argued the skipper’s challenge last weekend on James Henry, which was in Bolton’s half, could have been avoided.

He said: “It was a silly one and he knows it.

“Sometimes there are good fouls when the opposition are counter-attacking.

“He might argue they were about to do that, but he’s got to be careful.”
