KARL Robinson plans to leave some Oxford United players at home altogether ahead of tonight’s visit to Wigan Athletic.

The U’s boss flagged up his intention to shuffle the pack after the pressure-relieving victory against Southend United last weekend.

They need one more win from the final four games to be safe from relegation and have clashes against Doncaster Rovers and Rochdale to follow.

Robinson believes his changed side can still upset the odds against the Sky Bet League One leaders.

But those who most need a rest will not even get on the bus, which will return to Oxfordshire in the early hours of Wednedsay.

He said: “The two most natural sources of recovery are sleep and sun.

“We’re getting the sun on Thursday, but we have to make sure we aid the sleep as well.

“I just look at the next two games as being key to our survival, but I still think we can get something out of Wigan.

“The reason why I say I’m making changes is I don’t expect fans to pay their money and then see players aren’t there.

“I think it’s important they understand what we’re doing before they make a decision to come and follow us.”

Josh Ruffels and Joe Rothwell will both travel after recovering from hamstring problems, while fit-again defender Curtis Nelson is expected to start.

Wigan boss Paul Cook is also planning to freshen up his side following a goalless draw at home to Rotherham United on Saturday. Star man Nick Powell (thigh) is a doubt.
