OXFORD United are expecting to receive answers from the three players offered new contracts within the next 48 hours.

Of the eight first-team players whose deals expired this summer, only Adam Chapman, Asa Hall and Wayne Brown were given the chance to stay.

Formal contracts were tabled last week and the trio were given the weekend to consider the terms.

Now boss Chris Wilder is keen to resolve their futures within the next few days.

He said: “The contracts have gone out and we’re expecting answers.

“The way the club works I’m not going to put a gun to anybody’s head – you have to give the boys a bit of time to think about the deal.

“We’ll give them a few days, but there will come a time when there will be a cut-off period – early this week, possibly Monday or Tuesday, when we’ll require answers.

“Obviously it’s good if they accept the terms, if not we have to replace them.”
