Lee Cox may be owned by rivals Swindon Town, but the on-loan midfielder is loving his time with rivals Oxford United .

The 21-year-old, who is set to start against Southend United in npower League Two at the Kassam Stadium tonight, has slotted seamlessly into the U’s side, adding a combative edge in the middle of the park.

Cox, who came through the ranks at Leicester City, is due to return to the Robins in the new year.

But after settling in well with the U’s he has not ruled out staying longer.

He said: “It was dead easy for me to come here, as soon as I walked in the door everyone was very friendly.

“From early on you could tell there were some good lads here, hard workers, and it’s like I’ve been here a long time.

“From the way things have gone I’m very happy here.

“If things continue and we keep winning you never know (about staying), you can’t say what will happen in the future because football’s a funny game, but I’m very happy at the minute.”

Cox has helped the U’s start the season brightly, combining well in midfield with Adam Chapman and Jake Forster-Caskey.

And after seeing off Bournemouth on penalties in the Capital One Cup and Bristol Rovers 2-0 in the league opener on Saturday he believes the U’s go into tonight’s game with plenty of momentum.

He said: “There’s a lot of confidence flying about just lately, which is good, you need to be confident going into games and I’m sure the lads will be going into Southend.

“But you never know what they will throw at us, they’re a good team.

“As long as we’re focused on what we’ve got to do we’ll carry this win on.”
