OXFORD United have ended Sean McGinty's loan from Manchester United several months early.

The 19-year-old was due to have stayed with the club until January, but has instead returned to Manchester this week.

The left back was unable to dislodge Tony Capaldi in the starting line-up on a regular basis and struggled to settle.

U's boss Chris Wilder said: "We've made a decision to send him back to Manchester United and we'll look to bring someone in to cover."

McGinty made two appearances for the U's, most recently as a late substitute in the 1-0 win against Swindon Town in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy last week.

I smell money trouble. Two Director resignations and now a 4 month loan spell suddenly cut short. Man U aren't pulling McGinty because they have problems fielding a first team. Is it that Lenaghan does not after all have the money available that we were led to believe? We need to be told what's going on.

I dont think there is anything to concern ourselves with.. in regard to money trouble, we wouldnt be paying aything for a Man Utd youth player, we would have him for experience and he's probably only payed a few hundred a week at most by Man Utd.. peanuts to them.

I thought he looked like he has some potential, but was far too lightweight for our league, and was only in as cover for the position whilst we had none (With Davis's injury).. Perhaps Davis is close to a banch return and wehave no need for the lad anymore..

Worley and Whing will hopefully recover soon from there injuries, maybe McGinty wasn't very good, afterall he is a young man who I would have thought would have wanted first team football and Chris Wilder couldn't offer it to him. I don't think it is money problems.

Sadly as jimbomcmucka says he very lightweight for our league. At Leeds he looked very poor. That's probably why he's gone, if he wants first team football he needs to go down a couple of leagues.

The problem is that there is no statement from the club. The Mail only found out because "sources in Manchester are reporting the left back's stay has been cut short". "United have yet to comment". If he's suddenly not good enough why don't they at least come out with the usual "lots of players coming back from injury makes it difficult to promise him first team football"? Why the secrecy?

I'm sure Manchester United are not getting any money for ages from us. I saw him play a few games and he looked poor.

Nothing to concern ourselves with; he wasn't very good. Maybe in a few years he'll be a decent player but he didn't add anything other than cover.

I think I must be reading something wrong here. From the repoet CW has stated that he is looking to bring someone else in as cover. To my way of thinking the club has issued a statement and if there was no money then why would CW say this. Lets face facts the lad is young, offered little, probably homesick as the report says he couldn't settle, so why keep him? As for the current team they need to realise they are not as good as they think and have no devineright to turn up andwin games. Like the rest of the population they HAVE TO WORK. COMY and buck up
