Elton John has topped the UK album chart with Good Morning To The Night, a collaboration with Australian duo Pnau
Sir Elton John has topped the charts with his first number one album in more than 20 years.
The veteran star, who has had six previous chart-topping albums, has taken the top spot with Good Morning To The Night, a collaboration with Australian duo Pnau, said the Official UK Charts Company.
The album, which sees Aussie pair Nick Littlemore and Peter Mayes re-imagine Sir Elton's '70s hits as dance anthems, is Sir Elton's first chart-topper since he released Very Best of Elton John in 1990.
His last number one single was when Tupac Shakur sampled his 1971 hit Indian Sunset for the chart topper Ghetto Gospel in 2005.
The collaboration replaces last week's number one by Surrey singer-songwriter Newton Faulkner, who crashed 10 places with Write It On Your Skin.
In the singles chart, Florence And The Machine held on to the top spot for a second week following their first UK number one last week with Spectrum (Say My Name).
And following cancelled gigs last week, Florence Welch has another reason to celebrate after getting her voice back.
After performing on Good Morning America on Wednesday, the flame-haired singer seemed relieved to get through her first performance since suffering a vocal injury.
"It still works apparently," she said after performing the chart-topping song.
She revealed she was "desperate" to perform the cancelled shows, but risked permanently damaging her vocal chords. "It's not like being sick, she said. "It's like being an athlete, you strain a muscle."
