PLANNING (LISTED BUILDINGS AND CONSERVATION AREAS) ACT 1990 ECCLESIASTICAL EXEMPTION (LISTED
BUILDINGS AND CONSERVATION AREAS) ORDER 1994
TAKE NOTICE that pursuant to the procedures of the Baptist Union of Great Britain and the Baptist Union of Wales for the purposes of the above named Order Minchinhampton Baptist Church has applied to the Listed Buildings Advisory Committee for a Certificate of Authorisation to carry out the following works to their premises:
To move the worship area upstairs, raising the ceiling to provide a full height space and leaving the 1830s roof trusses exposed. By re-locating the current stairs this provides a 47% increase on floor space. To link together the two buildings to make a new and welcoming entrance foyer with stairs up to the new upper church level; this new construction to be glazed front and rear to preserve the views from the street to the graveyard at the rear. To demolish the existing 1870s rear vestries and remove the external fire stairs, replacing these with a new two-storey extension to house a lift, a second (emergency escape) staircase, toilets at both levels and storage. To make all floor levels accessible by lift and also to provide accessible WCs on every level. To re-order all rooms to update and improve the facilities including a new catering kitchen, revised meeting rooms, re-located office space and toilets etc.
The Church building is listed Grade II and is in a Conservation Area.
Further details of the proposal may be obtained from Stephen Hale on telephone number 07802 415937 or email
