ENVIRONMENT AGENCY Water Resources Act 1991 (as amended by the Water Act 2003) Notice of application for a transfer licence to abstract (take) water for a previously exempt abstraction. Tarmac Trading Limited have applied to the Environment Agency for a licence to abstract water. The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 8 of The Water Abstraction (Transitional Provisions) Regulations 2017.
The application is for a licence to abstract (take) water from underground strata comprising limestone at Stainton Quarry, Dafton-in-Fumess, Cumbria between National Grid references SD 24471 73237, SD 25122 73121, SD 24932 72605 and SD 24176 72947 to transfer it back to the limestone via a soakaway at National Grid Reference SD 24994 73116 without intervening use.
Abstraction will take place all year round.
Further details are: this existing is a transfer for the purpose
of dewatering and was previously exempt from the need for a
licence under the Water Resources Act 1991.
