Notice of Temporary Traffic Order Harwell, Icknield Way
Restricted Byway 243/19 Closure Closure commenced: 17 October 2016
Date of Order: 31 October 2016 Came into force: 7 November 2016 This Order was introduced for public safety reasons to facilitate work in association with the remediation of the former Harwell effluent treatment works which was known to take in excess of 6 months to complete. The effect of the Order is to close temporarily Harwell Bridleway 243/19 (Icknield Way) between the junctions of A4I85 Newbury Road and Eighth Street, adjacent to the Liquid Effluent Treatment Plant (LETP). Exemptions are included for emergency services and the works and access to property only accessible from the closed section of bridleway. Appropriate signs are displayed to indicate the measures are in force. There alternative route runs via Eighth Street, Curie Avenue and Newbury Road to the south ofthe area. This Order, with the consent of the Secretary of State for Transport, will remain in force until 31 March 2019 or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner.
