(VIRGIN SPORT OXFORD HALF MARATHON) (SPECIAL EVENT) ORDER 2017

NOTICE is hereby given that on 2 October 2017 Oxfordshire County Council proposes to make the above Order under Section 16A of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.This order is introduced to facilitate the holding of the Virgin Sport Oxford Half Marathon which is organised by Virgin Sport, 66 Porchester Road, London W2 6ET. The order brings in traffic measures variously from 8am on 7 October for the event to take place on Sunday 8 October.The race commences at 9.30am and all road closures will be cleared during the afternoon with the start/finish cleared by 6pm. There will be road closures in force which means No access and also No waiting, some No Waiting * without road closures and some One-Way traffic changes, all detailed below.
Parking suspensions include removal of Permit Parking, Pay and Display parking and Disabled Persons parking. Closures/No Waiting at Start/Finish area from 0800 7 Oct.

Marshalls will be used to assist traffic and runners generally, and specifically at road junctions. Some traffic lights may be deactivated for marshal control.Vehicle access to property will be under strict control of marshals provided it is safe to do so. The alternative traffic routes are (1) southbound via the A4I58 Iffley Road, B4495 Donnington Bridge Road,A4l44 Abingdon Road, and (2) Northbound (from Iffley Road and Cowley Road) via The Plain roundabout, A420 St Clements Street, Headington Rd & London Rd,A40 Northern Bypass, A4I44 Woodstock Road, St Giles, Beaumont St,Worcester St, Hythe Bridge St,A420 Hollybush Row, Oxpens Rd,Thames St, St Aldates and vice versa. Diversions will be marked via the Oxford ring road.
Exemptions to closures are included for emergency services, event participants, support and safety vehicles and for emergency works to services in the roads. Residential access and deliveries will be managed by marshals. The relevant provisions of following traffic orders will be temporarily suspended in so far as they are affected by the traffic measures for this event.

Documents giving more detailed particulars of the proposed order are available for public inspection at County Hall, New Road, Oxford OX I IND from 9am to 4.30pm Monday to Friday. These documents include copies of this notice, the order, maps showing the roads affected and a Statement of Reasons for the proposed Order.
