(OXFORD CENTRAL AREA) (TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT) (EXPERIMENTAL) (VARIATION NO.2) ORDER 2017

Notice ID: MF0252068

Notice effective from
13th December 2017 to 12th January 2018

OXFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL (OXFORD CENTRAL AREA) (TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT) (EXPERIMENTAL) (VARIATION NO.2) ORDER 2017
Order made 12 December 2017 Comes into force 21 December 2017 NOTICE IS GIVEN that Oxfordshire County Council has made a variation to the existing experimental order -made 13.10.17 under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and all other enabling powers. The effect of the order (as amended) was to prohibit Taxis using Queen Street and instead enable Taxis to enter/use part of Cornmarket Street near Carfax as a Taxi rank in the evenings.

*Under powers outlined below, it has been found appropriate to rescind this option and revert to Taxis using Queen Street with the rank reinstated near Carfax. This will operate between 6.30pm and 8.00am all days, with the continued prohibition of Taxis and Private Licensed cars using Queens Street as a through route -i.e. only Taxis entering to use the Taxi rank are permitted. The Experimental Order will continue to operate for a maximum period of 18 months. If the provisions of the experimental order are made permanent, the measures will be incorporated into The Oxfordshire County Council (The City of Oxford) (Central Area) (Traffic Management)
18 (Consolidation) Order 2003 (as amended).

* This Order contains provisions allowing the Director for Communities (or Delegated Officer) to modify or suspend the order or any provisions of the Order (if appropriate) in accordance with Section 10(2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The Council will be considering in due course whether the provisions of the Experimental Order should be continued in force indefinitely. Any person may object to the making of the experimental Order for the purposes of such indefinite continuation within a period of 6 months beginning with the day on which this variation comes into force (21 December 2017). Documents giving more detailed particulars of the order are available for public inspection at www.oxfordshire.gov.uk   and at County Hall, New Road OX1 1ND from 8.30am to 4.30pm weekdays. Any objections or other representations should be sent in writing to the Director for Infrastructure Delivery at the address given below no later than the 9 May 2018. The Council will consider all representations received in response to this Notice and they may be disseminated widely for these purposes and made available to the public. (Ref: AK/.Queen Street)
