OXFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL (WALLINGFORD FESTIVAL OF CYCLING) (SPECIAL EVENT) ORDER 2018

NOTICE is hereby given that Oxfordshire County Council proposes to make the above order under Section 16A of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The Order is to facilitate the holding of the Wallingford Festival of Cycling on Sunday 8 July which is promoted by Tony Sefton,The Old Counting House, 82e High Street, Wallingford OX10 0BS.The Council is satisfied that it is not practicable for the event to be conducted off-road. The occasion includes numerous cycle events with spectator numbers expected at 5000 and competitors to exceed 1,500.
The effect of the order is to close the roads listed below, prevent parking and loading to enable participants, spectators and others to safely use the roads. The restrictions will overall be between 11am and 8pm on Sunday 8 July.
Appropriate traffic signs will be used to indicate when and which closures are in place and traffic marshals will be assisting the movement of vehicles and pedestrians.
Exemptions to the restrictions are included for emergency services and event organisers and authorised support vehicles, and for controlled access to properties.
Diversions: Traffic from Shillingford Bridge will be diverted via Norries Drive and St Georges Road & St Nicholas Road to access the town centre area.
Road Closures and No Waiting/Loading:
High Street - from Wallingford Bridge to the traffic lights closing off the High Street/Castle Street/St Martins Street traffic lights;
Wallingford Bridge - from the traffic lights on the Crowmarsh side to the junction with Castle Lane; New Road - between St Leonards Square and Wood Street
Goldsmiths Lane - One-way section from St Martins Street to Mill Lane
Thames Street - from High Street to St Peters Street; and the whole of the following roads - Market Place, St Martins Street, St Marys Street, St Leonards Square,Wood Street, St Peters Street. Detailed documents are available for public inspection at County Hall, New Road, Oxford OX1 1ND from 9am to 4.30pm Monday to Friday and at Wallingford Library, High Street, OX 10 0DB from 9.30am to 5.30pm Monday,Tuesday & Friday, 9.30am to 7pm Thursday and 9.30am to 1pm Saturday.
