Notice of intended disposal of nominated asset on the List of Assets of Community Value
The Crown Inn, 52 High Street, Benson, WALLINGFORD, OX10 6RP.
The council received notice on 24 July 2018 from the owners of The Crown Inn, Benson that they wish to dispose of 4,000 square feet the Land. This is located at the end of the beer garden furthest from the building.
You now have a six week interim moratorium period commencing on 24 July and ending on the 4 September to decide whether or not to be treated as a potential bidder.
You must send your intention to be treated as a bidder in writing to the council by 4 September 2018 whereby a six month full moratorium period will commence that will end on 24 January 2019 (the six month moratorium includes the six week interim moratorium). The full moratorium period allows community interest groups time to develop plans and raise funds to bid for the Land. The owner of the Land will not be able to make a relevant disposal of the Land until the full moratorium period has ended. Please note that there is no obligation on the owner of the Land to sell The Crown Inn, Benson to the community group.
Should no community bid be made and accepted before 24 January 2019, the owner has a protected period ending on 24 January 2020 when they are able to sell the land on the open market, after which any decision to sell will trigger the interim moratorium period again only if the asset was not successfully disposed of.
