PUB company Oakman Inns has pledged to eradicate its use of single-use plastics by April 2019.

The company runs The Blue Boar in Witney, The Crown & Thistle in Abingdon and the Old Post Office in Wallingford.

It was the first multiple-site pub group to end the use of plastic straws across more than 20 hostelries.

The group has been in discussion with its suppliers on the best methods for eliminating the use of plastic packaging.

Oakman Inns CEO Peter Borg Neal, said: “Our ethos at Oakman Inns emanates from the wishes of our staff and our customers who are almost universal in their desire to end plastic consumption wherever possible.”
