NOW that all the summer fruits are ready to harvest, you can make the most remarkable range of fruit smoothies for the family.

They are so easy to make and are an excellent way of using up all those extra strawberries and raspberries you picked at the pick-your-own, or purchased at the farmers' market.

Because smoothies can be made from both milk and yogurt, there's no finer way of providing the family with a health-giving drink that is simply bursting with sunshine and vitamins.

If you have an ice lolly maker, you can take smoothie-making one step further by turning some of the mixture into an ice lolly. Ice lolly moulds are available at most good kitchen shops and can be purchased at Millets Farm Shop for £4.49 for a set of four.

This recipe is a guide only, as smoothie mixtures can be made from almost any fruit. It's up to you to use your imagination.

To make eight lollies, you will need: 2 packs of ice lolly moulds Approximately 8oz (225g) fresh fruits, such as raspberries and strawberries 12fl oz milk (360ml) 8oz (225g) yogurt Honey to sweeten - approximately 4 teaspoons Method: All you have to do is blend all the ingredients together in a smoothie maker or liquidiser Check the mix is sweet enough, adding more honey if needed Pour into the ice lolly moulds and place them upright in the freezer for a few hours To remove from the moulds, simply place the moulds under running hot water for a moment, then ease out carefully.
