CHURCH fundraisers staged a balloon festival near Wallingford to raise cash for a bakery in Kenya.
The bakery in Nakuru will be built with the help of funds raised by members of St Mary’s Church in Cholsey.
The balloon festival took place on Saturday at Cholsey recreation ground, close to the pavilion in the centre of the village.
Michael Wolf from Wallingford, who organised the festival, said: “Ten hot-air balloons were launched at 6pm.

“Free tethered rides were given for a donation to the church, which will pass on the funds towards building the bakery.
“Once the bakery has been built next year it will fund an eye project for those suffering cataracts and eye problems.”
Mr Wolf added: “We hope to have raised several hundred pounds today.”
