A STORY of fun, friendship and fornication set in the city comes to the end of its run at the Oxford Playhouse tomorrow night.
The stage-adapted version of Evelyn Waugh's Brideshead Revisited revolves around Charles Ryder, an undergraduate studying history at the University of Oxford in 1923, and his assortment of eccentric friends.
Acclaimed playwright Bryony Lavery's reimagining of the classic novel is being performed by the English Touring Theatre and York Theatre Royal tonight and tomorrow.
The audience is promised an "elegant and evocative" adaptation.
Company director Mark Shayle said: "We have had a fantastic time touring this new stage version of Brideshead Revisited and are delighted to be performing in Oxford, where the novelist himself, Evelyn Waugh, attended Hertford College.
"It's amazing to perform this show in the city that inspired it."
