A CLIMB to the top of Snowdon was the last thing wheelchair user Petula Bollon envisaged being able to do.
But with the help of a dozen volunteers, she succeeded.
Mrs Bollon, 53, from Wigod Way, Wallingford, said: "It was fantastic, a really great experience. I never believed I'd ever do it."
Mrs Bollon, who has multiple sclerosis, goes to the MS Therapy Centre at Reading, which took part in the MS Therapy Centre Challenge.
A team of men and women from Vodafone, Newbury, built a frame round Mrs Bollon's wheelchair and took it in turns to carry it up the mountain.
Mrs Bollon said: "They were marvellous.
"We went through woods and bogs, and over steep terrain.
"We kept stopping for them to have a break and me to have my muscles massaged."
She was helped by her husband Adrian.
She said: "When I told my children - Christian, 33, and Sabina, 30 - they thought I was mad. But I think they were proud of me at the end of the day."
Her sponsorship for the event has topped £2,000, which goes to the work of the therapy centres.
She said; "I wanted to help the centres as much as I could - they have certainly been a lifeline for me."
Mrs Bollon, who was a manager of an old people's home at Newbury before multiple sclerosis put an end to her career, said: "It all took five-and-a-half hours, but it was a wonderful experience.
"In parts I was terrified, but there was such a buzz from the day. I'd certainly do it again."
