A POST office could be returning to Summertown for the first time in a decade.
There has not been a branch in Summertown since 2008, when Martin’s newsagent sold up to Costa Coffee.
But a counter for postal services is set to be installed in the Co-op in Banbury Road.
City councillor for the area, Jean Fooks, said she could finally reveal after months of negotiations that the services would be returning to the area.
She also said the nearest post office at First Turn was due to close shortly, making the move even more crucial.
She said: "The co-op was always the obvious choice but the post office wouldn't allow it.
"They said it would take business away from other branches - but the nearest is in St Aldate's and the post office at First Turn will soon be closing.
"People will be jumping for joy over this and it's great for the area, the businesses will also be pleased."
