A WOMAN punched a man outside shops in Oxford and showered his face with 'white spirit'.
The attack happened during daylight hours on Monday in Underhill Circus, Barton.
Thames Valley Police appealed for witnesses and said the victim pulled up outside the shops in his car at about 5pm.
The woman approached him shouting verbal abuse and the pair argued.
She then punched his face and grabbed a bottle of liquid, which police believe to be white spirit, and sprayed it in his face.
The man was not injured but police have appealed for witnesses, particularly anyone with mobile phone footage.
The woman is described as white, slim and 5ft 6ins tall, aged between 30 and 35-years-old, and was wearing a pink bobble hat.
White spirit is distilled from petroleum and is generally used as a paint thinner.
Investigating officer Detective Constable Emma Barras-Thompson, based at St Aldate's police station, said: "We are carrying out a thorough investigation into this incident.
"We are appealing for witnesses and would ask anyone with information or mobile phone footage to please come forward."
A 30-year-old woman from Banbury has been arrested on suspicion of GBH with intent, and released under investigation.
