AN application to build 88 homes in East Challow has been withdrawn.

Crest Nicholson's plans for land at Park Farm, East Challow, were approved at the end of May, with an additional condition that up roughly 30 parking spaces were added.

This week, however, it emerged that the firm changed its mind.

Adrian Butler, major applications officer for Vale of White Horse District Council, said in a letter: “I write to advise you that the application has been withdrawn by the applicant(s).

"An entry to this effect has been made in the Statutory Register and no further action will be taken on the application.”

Julie Mabberley, campaign manager for the Wantage and Grove Campaign Group, said: “We don’t know why (it has been withdrawn).

“We hope that any new application will include sufficient parking to meet the needs of residents and visitors to the development.”
