OXFORD West and Abingdon MP Layla Moran has slammed the process being undertaken which will see a corridor picked for the £3bn Oxford Cambridge Expressway.

Ms Moran was told by transport secretary Chris Grayling in the House of Commons on Wednesday there will not be consultation with residents before the corridor decision later this summer.

She responded: “It is shocking that a major decision like this will be taken without any public consultation.

“I’ve already invited roads minister Jesse Norman to visit Botley to listen to the concerns of residents and councillors. Sadly, the minister hasn’t confirmed a date.

“It’s imperative that this visit happens before transport ministers make a decision on the corridor for the expressway. I won’t be letting this one lie.”

A petition opposed to the expressway being built across Otmoor, between Oxford and Bicester, reached 8,000 signatures this week.
