TWO weeks of roadworks are due to start in Headington today.

Gas network operator SGN will be digging up Headley Way at the junction with London Road.

The company said it would be operating within the bounds of existing council works to minimise disruption.

In a statement on its website SGN said: "From Tuesday, August 28, we’ll be working in Headley Way at its junction with London Road for approximately two weeks.

"We will again be working under the council’s existing roadworks to avoid further disruption.

"We understand that people can get frustrated by roadworks, however the new plastic pipe has a minimum lifespan of 80 years.

"This means that when the work is complete, people will continue to enjoy the benefits of a safe and reliable gas supply for years to come."
