A NAKED brawler who was convicted in his absence of carrying out a savage attack ‘mid-coitus’ has been brought to court.

Juan Jiminez, of Long Close, Oxford, was convicted by a unanimous verdict on Wednesday for the assault while a lodger at a house at Thames Street.

The 31-year old attacked the landlord’s son ‘completely naked’ and ‘mid-coitus’ jurors were told after a row over bringing a woman back after hours.

During the trial jurors herd from the victim who told the court he had been punched repeatedly as well as throttled during the attack.

His partner went on to say that she whacked Jiminez with a ladder in a bid to stop the violence.

Jiminez was flanked by two police officers as he was led into the dock at Oxford Crown Court yesterday to explain his absence from the trial.

Defence barrister Michael Goold told the court that his client had missed his trial due to ‘an innocent mistake’. Explaining how police and legal teams had been unable to reach him on his phone number he said that Jiminez claimed to have provided a new contact number ahead of trial.

Mr Goold added that Jiminez was ‘genuinely baffled’ as to why the new phone number had not been noted.

When Judge Zoe Smith – who presided over the day-long trial, asked why when officers went to his address they were told nobody knew him, Jiminez could not give an explanation.

Jiminez was released on police bail to await a further hearing to be held at Oxford Crown Court to determine the basis of his guilty plea for a separate count of possession with intent to supply cannabis.

That hearing will take place on October 18 and a further sentencing date for assault will be determined following the outcome of that hearing.
