DETAILS of a crash in which a young motorcyclist died will likely not be made public until next year.

A full inquest for 20-year-old Billy Elbrow, who fatally crashed with a car at the Milton Interchange, has been scheduled for February 20.

Mr Elbrow, who lived in Abingdon, was described by his parents last week as 'a happy-go-lucky chap who loved and lived life to the full'.

Herald Series:

His inquest was opened at Oxford Coroner's Court this afternoon, where brief details of his death on August 23 were discussed.

Oxfordshire coroner Darren Salter said the cause of death was 'chest trauma', and he was formally identified by family members.

He said Mr Elbrow was a retail supervisor who was born in Oxford.

Last week staff at John Mason School in Abingdon paid tribute to the young motorcyclist, who was a former pupil.

The tribute from the school read: "Our memories of Billy are of such a wonderfully polite young man who would always stop and say hello with a beaming smile.

"[He was] a bright light of a young man, with good, strong family values, a sense of right and wrong, a big heart and determination.

"He will be loved and missed by all that had the pleasure to meet him."

Mr Elbrow died at the John Radcliffe Hospital after suffering multiple injuries in the collision, which happened at about 7.30pm.

His white Kawasaki motorcycle crashed with a silver Volkswagen Passat, and police want to speak to witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage.

Floral tributes have been left at the busy interchange between Didcot and Abingdon.

His funeral is set to take place a week today, and the family have said anyone who wants to can make a donation to Thames Valley Air Ambulance or Brake.
