MIDDLE lane hogging and inconsiderate parking were among key concerns addressed by police during a Twitter session.
Thames Valley Police's roads policing team held a question and answer hour on the social media platform last night, inviting followers to quizz an off-duty officer.
Oxford residents and motorists raised concerns about cars and construction vehicles blocking pavements, with one stating it had become a 'dangerous' problem in Headington.
#pavementparking is a constant and dangerous problem in #Headington Why is it only illegal in London and not the rest of UK? #ASKTVPRP pic.twitter.com/a4qkrTEihq

Phone use and dangerous driving - particularly on the A34 and M40 - were also reoccurring concerns.
PC Hinds: It can be frustrating but we all do the best we can to keep the public safe 👍

We're proactive in dealing with #Fatal4 offences which include using a mobile while driving.#AskTVPRP https://t.co/8zJ9wFU5Vu
PC Hinds: If you need to hold your phone to use it, it's an offence.

If you need to use your phone while driving, either connect it to your car - so you can use it handsfree or put it in a cradle. #AskTVPRP https://t.co/JBTCK4Bynn
Drivers failing to move over from the middle lane on the motorway was also a popular moan, but the officer urged people not to undertake unless the entire carriageway is congested.
PC Hinds: Hi Karl, while middle lane hogging is frustrating, undertaking a vehicle on the left isn't acceptable. The car in the middle lane could move over to the left, while you're undertaking which could potentially cause a collision. #AskTVPRP https://t.co/cqcC1xeeoe

PC Hinds: Evening, if the multi-lane carriage way is congested then it's legally acceptable to overtake on the left - with extra caution. #ASKTVPRP https://t.co/WbasorgJal

There was useful advice about what to do if a police car is approaching while cars ahead are navigating a bend.
PC Hinds: Please indicate that you've seen us by slowing down or by turning on your hazard lights.

If it isn't safe to stop, slow down to a speed that allows us to pass you 👍#AskTVPRP https://t.co/iGJmEcUDRO
Several cyclists asked if there were plans for more checks under Operation Close Pass, a national police scheme to stop drivers from overtaking bikes when there is too little space, which the officer said he would have to check.
There were also a few unusual questions...
