A DRUG dealer caught in Oxford city centre with 25 wraps of class A drugs has been jailed.

Carlos Jameson, of Ashurst Way, Oxford, admitted two counts of possession of Class A drugs – crack cocaine and heroin but denied dealing.

As his trial at Oxford Crown Court came to an end today, the 26-year was unanimously convicted of two counts of possession with intent to supply.

During the brief two-day hearing, jurors were told how police had arrested him in High Street, Oxford, on the afternoon of April 5.

Officers found a stash of drugs on him including 25 wraps of heroin and cocaine with a street value of about £250.

Jameson claimed the drugs were not intended to be sold but jurors took just four hours and seven minutes to roundly convict him.

Sentencing after the verdicts were handed out, Judge Ian Pringle QC said: "[Drugs] are the scourge of our streets these days. And you know, because you have done it in the past, that they attract significant prison sentences.

"You are a victim yourself because you have had a long standing addiction to class A drugs and your counsel tell me that you are going to address that.

"I hope for your sake and for society's that you do."

He was jailed for a total of four years and three months.
