CCTV images have been released after a worker at an Oxfordshire village petrol station was threatened with what police believe was a gun.

At around 1.40am on Monday, September 24, a man entered the Esso garage in Oxford Road, Bodicote, near Banbury.

He threatened the male member of staff, a 58-year-old man with the weapon ordering him to give him money.

The man said he did not want to hurt the shop worker, who then opened the till and gave him cash and cigarettes.

He is described as a white man, aged between 25 and 30-years-old and around 5ft 10ins tall with a medium build.

He spoke with an English accent and was wearing a brown hooded jacket, grey tracksuit bottoms and grey trainers.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Joe Stevenson, of Force CID at Banbury police station, said: “This was a frightening experience for the victim, who was just going about his work.

“The offender has made threats to the victim, leaving him in fear for his safety.

“I am appealing for anyone who believes they recognise the man in these images, or has any information that can assist in our investigation, to contact the 24-hour non-emergency number 101, quoting reference 43180291357.”
