A MAN has been arrested after a car was stolen and crashed it into a field.

The car owner, a 53-year-old woman, was asleep at her home in High Street, Harwell, when thieves broke into her home.

They got in through the back door to steal the keys and took the black Honda CRV, including the victim's handbag.

It happened about 4.30am Sunday and the bag was later found in the village hall bin, and the car found 'significantly damaged' in a field off Hadden Hill, between Wallingford and Didcot.

Investigating officer, DC Chas Boshell based at Abingdon police station said: “I am appealing to anyone who may have seen the black Honda CRV driving in the Harwell, Didcot and Wallingford areas in the early hours of the morning.

“In particular, I am keen to hear from anyone who may have dash-cam footage of the incident.

“I am also appealing to the driver of a small, silver vehicle who is believed to of stopped in the Hadden Hill area around the time of the incident. I believe there is a chance this driver may be a possible witness.”

A 29-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of burglary and released under investigation.
