A SCHOOL near Wallingford have received £2,300 to enhance their outdoor forest area.

Friends of Benson C of E Primary School (FoBS), a Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), received the funding from local housebuilder CALA Homes.

FoBS was chosen as a recipient of CALA's newly-launched Community Bursary.

Using the funding, FoBS has been able to develop the outdoor forest area with new equipment, games and musical instruments for use during lessons for pupils to enjoy during lunchtime.

Jo Whittaker, Committee Member at FoBS, said: “We are thrilled to have received this funding. The outdoor forest area has been extremely popular with pupils and the funding has allowed us to develop this area and further enhance it.

“All of the 208 children we currently have at Benson will benefit from this funding, as well as all of the new families that will move to the school after the development is complete.”

CALA Sales and Marketing Director Helen Colman said: “After receiving many amazing applications for a range of worthwhile causes, we faced an incredibly tough decision. (But) the work that the charity does to raise funds for the school and provide children with a fun and educational experience really stood out."
