  • Museum Shop Sunday is back with a bang on November 25 at The Ashmolean.Visitors can expect to take part in all kinds of activities including demonstrations by local craftspeople, food and drink tastings and creative workshops. The Ashmolean is also offering gin tasting and a promotion on their gin.
  • The Frost Flea market hits The Magdalen Arms on Saturday from 9.30am-3pm, with the usual vintage gifts and pressies on offer, all accompanied by bacon buns, cakes, meringues, mince pies and focaccia and a seasonal menu over lunchtime. Head chef Tony will also be on the outside fire serving hotdogs from 11am until they run out.
  • Dining out with friends or colleagues at Christmas can be tricky for vegans. So they will be pleased to hear that Pho on the Westgate Centre Roof Terrace has launched a vegan Christmas set menu which includes rice cracker nibbles, starters like lotus stem salad, crispy spring rolls and fresh summer rolls, mains of pho noodle soup, fragrant curry and wok-fried noodles, loads of Asian greens to share and a decadent fried banana fritter with fresh fruit sorbet for dessert.   • Holy Smoke! Gourmet Burger Kitchen is raising their festive game with none other than a Christmas tree smoked burger special. The Holy Smoke burger features a 6oz Douglas Fir smoked beef patty, topped with crumbed and fried Camembert cheese, truffle mayo, onion jam, baby spinach, all wrapped up in a sesame seed bun. It is £8.95, or enjoy it as a bundle served with fries and a drink for £12.95. Jay James, of GBK says, “What’s more Christmas-y than a burger smoked with Christmas trees?”
  • Black PIEday at Pieminister aims to raise funds for Shelter tomorrow by baking pies in a black charcoal-pastry. These Black Pie Day pies will be available at lunchtime at Pieminister in Oxford’s Covered Market and every penny will go to the housing and homelessness charity. Try Pieminister’s vegan pie Kevin (a mushroom, tomato and red wine pie) and Moo (a British beef steak and Gem ale pie) both revamped for the day from noon for £5 each. Andy Harris, director of fundraising at Shelter said, “This is such a fun idea. The money raised will help us provide advice and support to the thousands of families facing the grim prospect of homelessness.”
