A PUBLIC consultation on plans to build a new bridge over the Thames near Abingdon has closed.

Oxfordshire County Council launched the consultation on December 2 into plans for a new bridge at Culham and several new roads around Didcot.

Following the consultation, the proposed measures will be put forward as part of the council’s Housing Infrastructure Fund bid to support the building of 22,000 homes.

The new roads are designed to help Didcot cope with more than 10,000 new homes currently planned or being built.

However some residents of the town said the local roads already struggle to cope and branded the new roads plan an 'afterthought'.
