DRIVERS had to switch off their engines in standstill traffic on the A420 this afternoon.
Queues were backed up in both directions after two vehicles were involved in a crash near Watchfield.

The road was closed both ways for a number of hours and traffic backed up to Faringdon.

It had also affected the surrounding areas as roads were jammed in Longcot as well.
Initial reports suggested a lorry and car were involved but police have since appealed for witnesses, confirming the collision was between two cars.
