POLICE have been cracking down on drivers using a residential street as a rat run.
The local neighbourhood policing team ran a two day operation in Elms Drive, Marston, after complaints from residents.
No vehicles are allowed on the street except for access but it is frequently used by those cutting out the Headley Way roadworks to travel between Marsh Lane and Cherwell Drive, especially at peak times.
Officers gave warnings to 80 motorists and have warned further enforcement will take place, including the issuing of £50 on the spot fines. Non-residents parking on the street could also be penalised.
